Much of my work is inspired and led by personal observations, particularly of people in different environments. I enjoy this process and like to describe it as visual eavesdropping.
Using observed and constructed narratives to tell and capture moments is something that is on-going in my work. It also feeds into my printmaking in the form of some work with the umbrella title of ‘The Listening Project’.
I have been wanting to do some more comic illustrations and share them on my blog, inspired by stories and I have been constructing and collecting for quite a while. This image above is one that came to me from visiting the Dürer exhibition at the National Gallery recently. Although it does work without words, I wanted to share the narrative spark, of a touching moment, that inspired the piece.
The exhibition itself was wonderful, especially the woodcuts, engravings, and drawings.
